The yarn's muted palette - think vintage painted photographs - results from the way in which the different fibers absorb dye. The wool portion colors thoroughly, but the silk is barely tinted. It's a yarn for any time of year; it's warm and pretty in the winter, but light and flowing when worked into a summer cardi.
Tern is great for socks; its silk component has great tensile strength and the wool adds to the warmth and elasticity. Use the yarn for an open, swingy cardigan; you won't believe the drape. Use Tern for mitts, hats or anything you want near your skin.
