Start the New Year with your best yarn forward! Whether you want to cross brioche off your knitter’s life list, or are just looking to learn a new technique, the Vines and Vale shawl is the perfect fit. This glorious shawl, designed by Carol Feller, is knit flat on the bias with two-colour brioche, and is shaped to drape beautifully over your shoulders.
The class will start slowly with an introduction to the brioche method of knitting using worsted weight yarn and larger needles. Once the class is comfortable with the technique, we will move on to the pattern, where you will have your choice of following either written or charted instructions. Special attention will be paid to identifying and fixing mistakes, and it is recommended that you retain your practice swatch on separate needles for the duration of the class.
Materials needed for the first class are:
2 colours of highly contrasting, good quality worsted weight yarn (please don’t dig into that “mystery” bag for this project), 5.0mm or 5.5mm needles of your choosing, and a copy of the pattern, available either through Ravelry or the store.
