CAT BORDHI WORKSHOP April 5 – 6, 2008
We are thrilled to announce that Cat Bordhi, the well known knitting innovator, teacher and author is coming to inspire, encourage and teach us. This will be a fun event and one that serious knitters will not want to miss. Check out the two workshops below.
New Pathways for Sock Knitters – welcome to a knitter’s playground!
- Skill level: Advanced beginner and up
- Text: New Pathways for Sock Knitters, Book One
Whether you’ve ever knit a sock or not, by the end of this workshop you’ll be ready to knit socks to fit anybody, with any gauge yarn, on the needles of your choice. You’ll be knitting 1 or 2 small learning socks which teach you the elements needed to experiment with all 8 new kinds of sock architecture.
- Material: Several ounces of light-coloured smooth worsted-weight yarn and suitable needles and the usual knitting bag supplies.
- Saturday, April 5, 2008 ~ 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Location: TBA
- Cost: $100.00 (includes coffee, tea and a box lunch)
The Magic of Moebius Knitting – Introduction
- Skill level: confident beginner and up.
- Text: Treasury of Magical Knitting or A Second Treasury of Magical Knitting
It takes only minutes to learn Cat’s unique Moebius Cast-On and then you have the key to everything in her innovative books. For your first project, you’ll knit a Moebius scarf – to become familiar with this magical, friendly form, which is the heart of every Moebius bag, bowl, boot, cape, wrap, and bed. You can use one or multiple strands, or change yarns and textures along the way, and will discover that everything you do forms a beautiful mirror reflection growing from the middle of the scarf out to the edges. We’ll talk about what happens if you introduce a diagonal stitch pattern, how to work with stripes, how to sequence lace repeats, learn several edge treatments, and explore the basics of designing your own Moebius scarf or wrap.
- Material: Yarn and needles for chosen project (see either Treasury), and the usual knitting bag supplies.
- Time: Sunday, April 6, 2008 ~ 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Location: TBA
- Cost: $100.00 (includes coffee, tea and a box lunch)
- Note: Classes size is limited.
