A little piece of history

Our wonderful community has been bringing us yarn to pass forward to our charity knitters.  We received a big bag of yarn some time ago and while sorting it out made some interesting discoveries.  We are not sure who brought this yarn in but it had been in storage for a long time.   Above is one of the balls of yarn called Sally Ann that I can’t date but is looks to me to be pre1950’s.
Also there was yarn called Dunkirk Socks.  Each ball came with a pattern for knitting socks for service men.  These were in amazingly good shape.  If anyone has any information on this sock yarn please share it with us.  We love to have a story!
