Araucania Panguipulli on sale

It’s sweater time again and I thought I would share my most recently finished garment.

I have always admired the yarns from Araucania.  Hand crafted yarns appeal to me; yarns that aren’t too perfectly spun or dyed in flat colours. Araucania yarns often have the appearance of handspun and they are hand painted in rich shades inspired from nature; I love the texture and the colour play in their yarns. Interesting yarns enables you to knit simple with the yarn doing the heavy lifting.

Panguipulli detail

Panguipulli is lovely soft Merino wool that is plied with two strands; each is dyed differently creating a multicolour yarn that stripes gently.  It creates a very lightweight fabric that is totally comfortable to wear.  It is available in many shades of rich earth tones and is equally suitable for women or men (at least my men!). The yarn pictured below is brighter and has more colour contrast than most of the colourways but it shows the interesting shading.

For a limited time we have Panguipulli on sale for 30% off at $13.30. View our colour selection.

The sweater I chose to make is from Jenny Watson Araucania Book 3. It is a nice simple cardigan that has bracelet length sleeves or in my case, working length sleeves. It is the perfect inside sweater; it is just cozy enough to be comfortable. It is quick to knit and for a medium size you will need 4 skeins. 1 skein of this yarn is plenty for a hat and 2 should make an ample cowl or scarf… lots of time to whip one up for a gift.
